The Ultra Chocolate Tour of San Francisco was so not what we expected. We never could have guessed that gin & chocolate pair so well together. And then there were the chocolate covered crickets….
Bruges, Belgium is the most ridiculously romantic little medieval town in Europe ever. You can barely take a step without being swept off your feet by swans, horse-drawn carriages, chocolate shops, little lace shops, and other insanely cutesy things worthy of a bad romance novel. Searching for Copenhagen castles, we found many group tours that were way out of our budget! But where there is an expensive group tour, there is usually a cheaper, self-guided DIY way. Here’s how to see Frederiksborg Castle and Kronberg Castle (the setting of Shakepseare’s Hamlet) in one day! Visiting the Copenhagen castles is one of the best and cheapest day trips from Copenhagen.

It’s a lot to ask. Luckily, I’ve found a few makeup products that I swear by for travel and backpacking!
Packing for long term travel: some people leave it until the last minute, but I spent months planning, researching, test-packing, and even in some cases, weighing every item for our trip. You’re probably not shocked to hear that there were spreadsheets and diagrams (If this was Harry Potter, my patronus would be a spreadsheet.) But even though I researched, re-researched, read countless blog posts about packing for long term travel and background checked the authors of the Amazon reviews I trusted (ok, that last part is a mild exaggeration), there were bound to be mistakes. I wish I’d known a little bit more about what not to pack for long term travel!

The Quilotoa Loop is a 3-day long hike in the Andes mountains in Ecuador, peaking at 12,500 feet. We thought we were taking the “easy” route. It turns out there is no easy route. Of course, we didn’t know that until after getting lost, unintentionally trespassing, crawling up a mountain on our hands and knees, injuring ourselves, and finally hitchhiking the rest of the way.
