Indianapolis, Indiana is the biggest city in the Crossroads of America, but it’s also the most surprising. Canals, an incredible art museum, an award winning foodie scene, historic monuments, and plenty of adorable neighborhoods to explore; describe Indianapolis to someone who’s never been, and they might think you were describing somewhere in Europe. (It’s the canals, isn’t it?) But don’t underestimate Indianapolis! Centrally located to most major Midwestern cities and a quick flight from either coast, Indianapolis is a fantastic destination for a weekend getaway!
I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, a city famous for two things: bourbon and horses. True to form, my childhood in Louisville involved plenty of of horseback riding, and I developed a taste for bourbon at a young age (nooo, that sounded bad. I mean like… bourbon in chocolate form, not actual bourbon. Look, I turned out just fine, OK?). I may have moved away years ago, but I will always think of Louisville as home! Visiting Louisville as an adult, I’ve realized that there is SO much to do in this amazing city, and so much to share with Jeremy. We’ve realized that Louisville makes the PERFECT romantic getaway! Indiana is a state full of surprises. In this one (very tall) Midwestern state, you can find sugar sand beaches, lakeside resorts, giant sand dunes, ancient burial grounds, ski resorts, German villages, and vineyards. Pretty impressive for just one state, right? I am a proud Hoosier (AND a proud Kentuckian – a rare coexistence). I LOVED attending college in Bloomington – my personal favorite destination in Indiana, centrally located within a several hours drive of many amazing Indiana getaways. I explored Indiana on weekends and holidays, venturing as far north as the South Shore and as far south as Evansville. From the northern shoreline of Lake Michigan to the southern border with my hometown on the Ohio River, Indiana is filled with hidden gems to explore. Here are 8 of my favorite weekend getaways in Indiana!

Minnesota is located so close to Canada that the people are insanely nice and all love hockey. Dontcha know, there’s SO much to see and do in Minnesota! You might be familiar with Minneapolis, but have you visited the rest of this underrated state? Hop in the car and take one of Minnesota’s many scenic road trips to explore these 8 incredible places to visit in Minnesota.
My hometown of Louisville, Kentucky is a city full of surprises – for those that have never visited, that is. Many people are surprised when they find out that Louisville is the 16th largest city in the country. Or that, unlike the state it’s a… [read more]
Louisville, Kentucky is a city that’s famously known for a drink: bourbon. Sure, it’s technically Kentucky that invented Bourbon, but Louisville has embraced it, built upon it, and created a drinking scene honoring it. We spent a few weeks exploring my old Kentucky hometown of Louisville and drinking a ridiculous amount, discovering everything from the best Louisville breweries to amazing Louisville bourbon bars and, of course, incredible Louisville distilleries.
