Travel Essentials for him & her

Whether it’s your first or your fifth trip to Europe, if you’ve never visited in the winter you might be in for a surprise. Namely: it’s cold. Surprise!

HOW COLD DOES EUROPE GET IN THE WINTER?

It completely depends on where you’re going. Some parts of Europe are actually not cold at all during the winter (like Spain or southern France) and some areas are frozen tundras (like the Nordics).

IS IT POSSIBLE TO PACK LIGHT FOR WINTER TRAVEL?

The trick is to wear all of your heaviest stuff on your travel days – like your bulky jacket, that scarf that’s as big as a blanket, and so on.

THE WARMEST WINTER FABRICS

Merino wool is best for layering, and will keep you warm without overheating. Down jackets are incredibly insulating and extremely lightweight.
