Our favorite time of the year to travel in Europe is during the winter. As the weather gets colder, the Christmas markets come to life, snow begins to fall, and it’s the perfect time to throw on cozy sweaters.

Copenhagen, Denmark just might have been the city that caused us to fall in love with Europe in the winter. It’s the perfect place to start your Europe winter adventure!
The world “fairytale” gets tossed around a lot, but Bremen is literally a fairytale town: its claim to fame is being the star of a Brothers Grimm fairytale.
If you need a short break from cold weather, Amsterdam in the winter is pleasantly mild. It’s not quite as Christmassy as the rest of the cities we’ve included in our winter itinerary, but hello – it’s Amsterdam!
We may have based our stop in Bruges, Belgium on a movie that Jeremy liked, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t an awesome place to spend Christmas. Bruges is every bit as romantic and magical as In Bruges makes it seem.
Home to a gorgeous central plaza, incredible food options, a famous statue of a boy peeing (yes, they think it’s weird too), and a bunch of incredibly strange museums, Brussels has no shortage of things to do.
